Polymer Scientist
Reporting to the Section Head, you will work as part of the Surface Chemistry Team of scientists. You will play a pivotal role in the design of advanced nanomaterial systems.
You will have a strong background in polymer science and have demonstrated skills with hands on experience in polymerization reactions, microspheres preparation and characterization. Experience with surface chemistry and coating methodologies is desirable. You must be familiar with a variety of physical and analytical measurement techniques such as microscopy, rheology, spectroscopy, and colloids. Biochemist
Reporting to the Section Head, you will work as part of the Surface Chemistry Team of scientists. Responsibilities will include design and development of functional bioconjugates using nanomaterials and polymer beads. Specific activities include method development of biological conjugates, analyses and functional testing of the developed conjugates using standard biological assays. You should possess skills in conjugation chemistry of proteins, nucleic acids and various biological tags. A thorough understanding of biochemical assays and cellular science is essential. Colloidal Chemist
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will be joining Nanoco’s team of R&D scientists as a colloidal chemist to work on the development and synthesis of novel and existing quantum dots and other nano-materials. The role is based in Nanoco’s state of the art materials laboratory in Manchester, UK. Responsibilities will include the development of new types of quantum dots and nano-materails which will involve the synthesis and handling of highly air and moisture sensitive liquids and solids (Schlenk, high vacuum and dry-box techniques are essential) and will also involve assisting inthe scale-up of materials. The position will also involve working closely with global customers. Production Engineer
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will play a key role in scaling-up production of Nanoco’s range of fluorescent semiconductor nanoparticles (quantum dots). Responsibilities will include scale up and manufacture of new materials developed by Nanoco’s R&D team, taking control of continuous process improvement and implementing ISO standards. Surface Chemistry Scientist
Reporting to the Section Head, you will work as part of the Surface Chemistry Team of scientists. You will play a pivotal role in the design of advanced nanomaterial systems. Responsibilities will include development of formulations of colloidal systems and nanomaterials to fit with a broad spectrum of applications that include inks, electronic display systems and biomedical applications. Specific activities include: formulation of nano-structured materials; polymer coating & functionalization of nanoparticles, and performance evaluation and analyses using major analytical instruments (HPLC, GC-MS, TEM, spectrometry, etc). Synthetic & Materials Chemist
Reporting to the Section Head, you will be joining Nanoco’s Nanomaterials team of R&D scientists as an organometallic/inorganic chemist to work on the development and synthesis of novel and existing quantum dots and their applications. The role is based in Nanoco’s state of the art materials laboratory in Manchester, UK. Responsibilities will include the development of new types of quantum dots which will involve the synthesis and handling of highly air and moisture sensitive liquids and solids (Schlenk, high vacuum and dry-box techniques are essential). You should have knowledge in the use of analytical instruments including transmission electron microscopy, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, UV-vis, PL, FTIR, powder X-ray diffraction, thermo-gravimetric analysis, multinuclear NMR. Scale-up Chemist
Reporting to the Production Leader, you will be directly involved in the transfer of synthetic procedures from research scale to production.
You will be expected to communicate with the research chemists to ensure developing research procedures are compatible with scale-up to production, modify existing and future procedures to meet operating requirements and constraints as well as optimise costs, and develop medium scale production protocols to meet agreed product specifications.
